Can my radios talk to each other?
Yes. Every radio we sell, analog or DMR, handheld or mobile, can talk to every other one on the GMRS and MURS channels. A UV-25 in your pocket can talk to a UV-50X2 at home or a friend's DM-32UV. Just set both radios to the same GMRS or MURS channel.
The only exception is the encrypted channels. Those work only between radios in the same matched DMR set.
✱ Why are DMR radios sold in sets?
Each DMR set is programmed together with its own private encryption key, so your radios can only talk privately to each other. A single encrypted radio has no one to talk to, so we don't sell them one at a time.
Buying just one radio? Go with the Baofeng UV-25 or K5 Plus. They're programmed for your area the same way and work on GMRS, MURS and ham repeaters right out of the box.

What does "programmed for your area" mean?
We look up the active repeaters closest to the address you give us and load them into your radio with the correct frequencies, offsets and tones, along with NOAA weather, GMRS and MURS channels. The radio is ready to use when it arrives.
Can my radios talk to each other?
Yes. Every radio we sell can talk to every other one on the GMRS and MURS channels. Encrypted channels only work between radios in the same matched DMR set.
Why are the DMR radios only sold in sets?
Each DMR set is programmed with its own private encryption key, so the radios can only talk privately to each other. A single encrypted radio would have no one to talk to. If you only need one radio, the Baofeng UV-25 or K5 Plus is the better pick.
Can you program a radio I already own?
